The People Are So Friendly Here

It seems everyone has the same thing to say about this place. “The people are so friendly here.” And it’s true. It’s why I chose to stay and why people visit throughout the year, despite the weather.

For example, a fundraiser was held this past weekend for one of the members who was recently diagnosed with cancer. I wasn’t able to attend, but when I went down to the clubhouse Sunday morning, the good will was palpable. The atmosphere was charged with positivity and you could just sense… goodness.

I don’t know how else to describe it, because I’m not a very good writer. I hate big words and don’t like to look things up.

If the right word doesn’t come to me, I use the easiest one. I believe “lazy” is the term you would apply, but as I said, I’m not sure and not looking it up. You look it up. Apparently you have nothing better to do than to sit there and read this. (A waste of time, if you don’t mind me saying so.)

So where was I? I tend to jump around. They say it’s because I have ADD, but I don’t think so. Look! A Woodpecker! I am so glad I don’t have to bang my face against trees to eat. Also, I can’t believe they made another “Fast and Furious” movie. I get it. You can make cars fast and drive them. Hey, who do you think would win in a fight between Vin Diesel and Aquaman? (On land. Otherwise, no contest.) Isn’t cereal really good? Where are my pants? I guess I don’t need them. Whatever.

As I was saying (before you interrupted my train of thought) (I wonder who first called a stream of thoughts a “train”?) (I mean, it makes sense because it’s like this one long… train… of thought) (I’m just saying it was very perceptive) (choo choo! Brain Train leaving the station! Choo choo!) (that’s going to be my new thing), there are few places you can go and have instant friends.

There’s a magic to this place, and it goes far beyond removing your clothes.

I don’t want to get too mushy, so I won’t. It’s also hard to focus when I’m trying to figure out this Vin Diesel vs. Aquaman thing. If you break it down, Vin should have the advantage on land, but you can never count out a guy with a trident. I don’t know. I’m going to have to draw it out.

One thing’s for sure… wait… what were we talking about? Hey, aren’t cookies awesome?

A benefit concert will be held this weekend for Greg and Betty Artman in Franklin, NC. Greg was recently diagnosed with aggressive cancer and, as you would imagine, the medical bills are mounting.  For more information, click here https://www.facebook.com/events/379664495483847/?fref=ts .  The park is also raffling off some truly excellent prizes and tickets are still being sold.

  1. Happy Birthday to the guy through the trees. Being friendly is a choice. We are not without our “drama” (especially the residents) but it tends to work out. We are glad we moved here (as much as we have put into our place, we better be) and it’s good to have you as our eccentric neighbor. Can’t spy on you as much with the leaves on the trees but we know you are there. You are welcome to come hang out anytime you feel like it.

    • Thanks, Timm! Maybe I would come over more if you weren’t all over the country helping people all of the time 🙂 You guys are a shining example of what I’m talking about.
